I've enjoyed this sequel as much as the first book. Neill has created characters with depth and emotion and the supporting cast are as interesting as the main characters. Set in Chicago, local readers will find the reference to known landmarks and areas a refreshing change of pace. The plot is engaging with enough twists and turns to keep the reader interested despite sparse use of action sequences. You struggle with Merit through acceptance of her new life as a vampire, her identity as house sentinel, and her conflict between two love interests.
